Chrysler Recalls 2012 Patriot and Compass

Chrysler announced the recall issue on vehicles like Jeep Compass and Patriot. Almost 1,689 2012 units were recalled at this point of time. NHTSA has announced that few Patriot and Compass models are manufactured with defective fuel tank assembly that may also include damaged roll-over valve. Recall issue may lead to fire risk.

Consequences of that particular problem are the leakage occurred in the event of a crash, which in turn increases the fire risk. Recall also affects Compass and Patriot models manufactured from 2011- Dec 17th through Jan 2012.

According to the reports of Chrysler, Company will notify dealers and owners in the month of June 2012. Company is taking measures to replace the fuel tank at free of charges on Compass and Patriot SUVs.

Jeep owners have to wait till May 2012 and may also contact Chrysler customer care at 1-800-853-1403 for more information. Customers may also contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.

Summary

Recall is for both 2012 Patriot and Compass. However, company is also recalling the 2012 Cherokee and Wrangler due to problem with the airbags and engine cooling. Company is recalling over 2000 vehicles.

Both Compass and Patriot are affordable compact sport utility vehicles that can earn almost 7.4 and 6.8 as overall score.

Ranger super cab is underpowered when compared to the new Dakota crew cab. Ranger Super Cab Xlt delivers 143 hp and Dakota churns out 210 hp. Ranger has got a 5-speed manual and Dakota is equipped with 4-speed auto transmission. Neither vehicles offer paddle shifters.

Fuel efficiency of Ford Ranger is better when compared to Dakota’s 15 miles per gallon in the city.

When it comes to practicality, both the vehicles score equal ratings. Dakota and Ford Ranger can accommodate five passengers. Both have limited cargo space of 37 inches cubic feet.

Price of Dakota crew cab starts at $26,045, which is more than Ranger Super cab’s $21,565.
