The compact pickup truck, 2009 Dodge Dakota is offered in two body styles- the extended cab and crew cab. Extended models have the seating capacity of 5-passengers, while the crew cabs have capacity to accommodate up to 6-passengers. The extended models have rear hinged back doors and 6.4 ft cargo bed, while the other model have conventional back doors and 5.3 ft bed. Crew cab is offered in four trim versions, namely the base model ST, mid-level Big Horn, top line Laramie and off road ready TRX4. The major competitors to the 2009 Dodge Dakota model include Suzuki Equator, Nissan Frontier and Honda Ridgeline.

Engine

Power to the 2009 Dodge Dakota comes from 3.7 liter SOHC V6 engine that delivers 210 hp at 5200 rpm and torque of 235 lb ft at 4000 rpm. Also available is 4.7 liter SOHC V8 engine that delivers 302 hp at 5650 and torque of 329 lb ft at 3950 rpm. The standard transmission to the engine is 4-speed automatic, while it offers 5-speed automatic as optional. The compact pickup truck can achieve fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city premises and 20 mpg on the highway roads.
